It's beginning to look a lot like business!

Burnham Works is pleased to announce that it will host its first 'Members Night' sneak peak event on Oct. 9, with special guest, Pete Kadens, co-founder and president of SoCore Energy, a Chicago-based solar solutions provider.

"We think we have launched something very special here, as we strive to be an instigator of innovation within the AEC Community," says Burnham Works Managing Director Matt Abeles. "Pete has been a great supporter and champion of innovation in his own arena, so we feel the energy that he brings to this space next week will be something that all of our guests can take home with them."

Kadens founded SoCore Energy in 2008 and took it from a startup to a multimillion-dollar national solar business which he sold in 2013 to Edison International. Today, in addition to being SoCore's president, he also holds the title of 'chief sales officer.' Meanwhile, Kadens currently is chairman of the board of Streetwise, one of the largest homeless aid organizations in the Midwest, and he serves on the board of directors of both the Chicago Innovation Awards and the Cara Program, one of the largest workforce development programs in the country.

The Oct. 9 event is Burnham Works's opportunity to say thank you to its founding members and to showcase the progress that we have made as a new industry force for news and analysis and as a forum for interdisciplinary collaboration on new technology research and implementation. "We are all about the future here," adds Abeles. "And I can't think of a more exciting time than now in the history of communication and the built environment to be helping problem-solvers all over the world find the right technology to tackle Earth's biggest and most urgent challenges."

Looking ahead, Burnham Works in November will also host the Chicago Architecture Foundation's 'BIG DATA' program, to be presented by John Tolva, former chief technology officer for the City of Chicago and now founder and president of PositevEnergy. Last month, Burnham Works also announced that it will host Chicago's first national AEC Hackathon, which will take over our space for 36 hours in March 2015. Watch this newsletter, or visit our Website for more details on both events in the weeks to come.
